By combining all our resources into concerted action, the SSCSA will become a constructive entity in enhancing our effectiveness in rendering relevant professional counselling services to students, educational institutions and societies in Southern Africa.

To achieve the above the SSCSA will:

  • foster communication and cooperation among member institutions
  • promote activities which will lead to more effective and efficient counselling services to our constituents
  • be proactive in rendering services to our clients
  • promote the image of the SSCSA
  • share and communicate all relevant information to members
  • encourage research and disseminate the findings
  • develop members' skills
  • promote contact with relevant national and international organisations
  • make recommendations in the interest of clients
  • maintain a spirit of good will and openness amongst members.

The central principle that guides the activities of the Society is the observation of fundamental human rights. We urge all members to respect the human dignity of all people, acknowledge differences in culture, colour, ethnicity, religion, race, gender, marital status, sexual preference, age and socio-economic status.

We value being fair and just in all our interventions and doing no harm to any person. We respect confidentiality and we promote quality of service at al times.
